Thirteen Computer Engineering (CpE) students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Quezon City participated in the recently concluded 2019 Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Internship Program, held last August 5-26, 2019 at the CYCU campus in Chung Li, Taiwan.

A total of 120 students from the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Taiwan partook in this year’s internship program. Participants from T.I.P. QC were all 5th year CpE students namely: Cruzita Thalia Cabunoc, Desiree Lacena, Hany Jean Villaganas, Jeah Pielago, Alvin John Reyes, Raul Jason Garcia, Hayden Sabangan, Samson John Japay, Jamaela Projas, Khariza Malinay, Wendie Mae Melendrez, Jose Mari Cobar, and Mark Vincent Valenzuela.

CYCU’s internship program included lectures about Power and Energy, Communications and Control Systems, and Electronics Circuit Design as well as project design discussions inside laboratories.

“The summer internship program is an avenue to enrich the knowledge and skills of our students, especially in relevant topics, and enable them to do actual projects with the distinguished professors and graduate students of CYCU,” noted Dr. Jesusa Padilla, Dean of the T.I.P. College of Engineering and Architecture, on the significance of the program to the students.

Wendie Mae Melendrez, one of the T.I.P. student participants, commented, “Attending the CYCU Internship Program was a great learning experience because we were able to work with foreign students and learn from the speakers from CYCU technical experts.”

The 2019 Summer Internship Program is the latest engagement between T.I.P. and CYCU. Last January 15, 2019, T.I.P. hosted 12 graduate students from CYCU for the 2nd International Workshop on Advanced Technology at the T.I.P. QC campus. The partnership between the two institutions started in 2009 through a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote education and academic exchanges.
