CITE-Manila rep bags 1st Place in PSITE-NCR tilt

Shariff Shuhadah J. abirin, 4th year Information Technology (IT) student from the College of Information Technology Education (CITE) of T.I.P. Manila, was awarded 1st place in the Philippine Society of IT Educators-NCR chapter’s 5th Research Symposium in the Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (EMC) Category last March 16, 2018 held at the University of Sto. Tomas.

Abirin presented his project on EMC entitled, “Your Order’s Area: A Game-Based Learning Involving area of Polygons for Grade 4 Students,” which is a game that assists Grade 4 students in Geometry. The project was completed with the guidance of his coaches from the CITE faculty namely: Mr. Xander L. Faustino, Ms. Jheanel E. Estrada, Ms. Jenelyn M. Aranas, and Ms. Praxedis S. Marquez. Abirin took home a certificate of recognition and a cash prize worth Php2,500.00.

There were a total of 16 participating schools in the said regional event that was judged by some of PSITE-NCR’s industry partners: WACOM, Nokia Technology Center Manila, Netsystems Dynamics, and Animo Playlabs together with other researchers in the academe. Other winning schools in the EMC Category were National University and Far Eastern University, which took home 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

PSITE-NCR’s annual research symposium allows Computer Science, IT, and Information System students to showcase their innovative ideas, approaches and developments through their researches and capstone projects.
