Jose Rizal University and Misamis University benchmark at the T.I.P. Career Center in QC

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) recently opened its doors to fellow educational institutions, Jose Rizal University (JRU) and Misamis University (MU) for a benchmarking visit of the T.I.P. Career Center in Quezon City last August 10. Present during the benchmarking visit were deans and academic officers from JRU headed by their president, Dr. Vicente Fabella (5th from right), and MU President, Dr. Karen de Leon (4th from right) who were welcomed by T.I.P. officials led by the T.I.P. President, Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz (5th from left) with Assistant Vice President for Administration, Angelo Q. Lahoz (4th from left).

The delegates were given a tour of the T.I.P. QC campus for a closer look at its different facilities, culminating with a program presenting the T.I.P. Career Center. The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Cynthia Llanes, shared how the Career Center was established with the technical assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) Career Services experts. Discussed also were the Career Center services and functional areas, programs, and activities implemented during its first year of operations.

Likewise, Dr. Frank Alejandrino, T.I.P. Career Center director, shared his learnings from his training in the US which involved visiting the career centers of the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University in San Francisco.

T.I.P. is among the select schools identified in the Philippines by the USAID STRIDE Program to receive technical assistance to develop model career centers in its campuses patterned after those found in US universities. Today, T.I.P. continues to share its acquired knowledge in developing and managing its own career centers with the hopes of encouraging other institutions to also establish and develop their own.
