TIP officers visit top-ranking Australian Universities for Action Research and Benchmarking on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE)

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in coordination with the Southeast Asian Minister of Education, Organization, Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) conducted an action research on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and benchmarking program in top-ranking Australian Universities last September 5-11, 2014. The seven-day capacity building and study visit participated by 19 key academic officers was aimed to further develop the capability of TIP on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE). Participants gained learning insights from experts on OBE of top-ranking Australian Universities such as The University of Melbourne, Monash University, and The University of Sydney. Best practices on outcomes-based assessment and measurement were also learned from the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The Institutions of Engineers, Australia (IEAust) also provided some useful updates on industry requirements and advancement of professional practice in engineering. The activity provided valuable inputs and broadened the perspective of the participants along outcomes-based education implementation.

Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz, TIP President said that the study visit in Australia is a key aspect of TIP’s thrust to ensure the delivery of quality instruction through continuous capacity building of its academic personnel.
