TIP Conducts Learning Session on Communications and Student Career Development

The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) recently held a learning session on external and internal communications and student career development at the TIP Quezon City campus. The session was geared toward the rationalization of the functions of the various offices in TIP including the newly-created Career Center as well as other existing offices such as the linkages, communications, student development program, student services, and academic offices.

TIP President Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz convened members of the academics and management committee as well as other academic and administrative officers of the two campuses to learn from Eleanor Abaya, a retired communications executive from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Abaya’s immense working experiences with both academe and industry were very significant in relation to the present direction of TIP in becoming more relevant to industry in order to give its graduates better career opportunities in the future.

The session focused on learning how to coordinate various offices in achieving desired results for students. The ideal organizational structure for the communications office, as well as its key result areas or performance measures, was also discussed.
