The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) and its spin-off company SEBI Technologies, Inc. (SEBI Tech) recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the University of the Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), wherein T.I.P.—through SEBI Tech—will develop UA&P’s registration system in line with its Project Phoenix initiative. Project Phoenix aims to automate UA&P’s application and enrollment system thereby improving its student services from admissions to alumni affairs.

T.I.P. Senior Vice President and concurrent SEBI Technologies, Inc. President and CEO Angelo Lahoz and UA&P President Dr. Winston Padojinog formalized the partnership on January 31, 2020 at the UA&P campus in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

“Project Phoenix is meant to improve both our services to our students as well as the level of work efficiency of our people,” remarked UA&P President Dr. Padojinog. “When we automate our processes, we also magnify the quality of our student services.”

“It is us schools that know our processes the best. That is why we at T.I.P. decided to create an educational management system from scratch; one that captures the intricacies and processes unique to schools,” explained Angelo Q. Lahoz, T.I.P. Senior Vice President and SEBI Tech President and CEO, on SEBI Tech’s origins.

“This system has immensely helped our students in T.I.P., as well as the Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) in Butuan City. Now, we are adding the University of Asia and the Pacific to our list of partner schools. Beyond deploying this system, we more importantly view our role as empowering our partner schools. This is why we have named our system ‘EmpowerED.’ We empower them to operate more efficiently and effectively so they can better grow their schools,” Mr. Lahoz added.

EmpowerED is managed by SEBI Technologies, Inc., the first spin-off company of T.I.P. As a separate company from T.I.P., SEBI Tech is dedicated to continuously improving EmpowerED and servicing the system maintenance needs of its partner schools. Through SEBI Tech, T.I.P.'s partners have a committed service provider working with them throughout system implementation and beyond.

To date, there are 31,000 students and 1,300 school employees EmpowerED yearly around the Philippines.
