Engineer Deovanni “Deo” Miranda, a pure blooded Filipino engineer and a proud graduate of the Technological Institute of the Philippines, is now back home from Denmark to lend his knowledge and skills as a Railway Engineer for the construction of the Metro Manila Subway and the planned Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) line extension projects.

A viral post about the Metro Manila Subway Project initially caught Engr. Miranda’s attention. He was able to gather several other Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) also working in infrastructure industry and encouraged them to seek a meeting with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to offer trainings and their expertise to their various projects.

Last July 2019, the group met with DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and other transport officials to express their willingness to help with the infrastructure project under the Build, Build, Build Program of the current administration.

Engr. Miranda is now fulfilling his dream of giving back to the Philippines as he took the reigns as Engineer IV of the LRT-2 East and LRT-2 West Projects at the start of November 2019. On top of being able to lend his skills and expertise for the country’s development, he can also spend more of his time with his family living in Antipolo City.

In one of his interviews, Engr. Miranda was asked what made him decide to return to the Philippines after many years of working abroad. He then answered that his dreams and aspirations for the Filipino people to experience the comfort of mass transport is what lead him to come back home.

A graduate of the Technological Institute of the Philippines in 2001, Miranda was able to work as an engineer in Saudi Arabia in 2006. He then transferred to Denmark in 2015, where he landed a job at the Copenhagen Metro Team I/S as the M&E Construction Coordinator and M&E Lead Commissioning Engineer under the Copenhagen Cityringen Metro Project.

Now, Engr. Deo Miranda is an inspiration not only to the T.I.P. Community but also to all aspiring engineers.
