T.I.P. SHS places 1st in the 2019 Rotary PSA Video Making Contest

A group of Grade 11 senior high school (SHS) students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Quezon City bagged the first place award in the 2019 Rotary Public Announcement Video Making Contest.

At the competition’s awarding ceremony held last November 13, 2019 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight, Circuit Makati, the team received Php 30,000 cash prize and a plaque of recognition for their public service announcement entry entitled “ENDukasyon” under the Basic Education and Literacy category.

The winning team was composed of Myca Andrea Paringit, Vanessa Gem Novio, Anne Julia Salubon, Jericho Austria, and Coleen Andrea Samson from Grade 11 ABM-A4. According to Paringit, their 30-second video entry was inspired by the everyday dilemma of today’s generation wherein children from financially challenged families are deprived of basic education.

On the other hand, another team from T.I.P. SHS Grade 11 HUMSS namely, Sebastian Matthew Santos, Jea Ronalene Peralta, Jay-Ar Baduria, Ervin Andrei Garvida, and Claire Anne Maxine Goce won a Special Citation Award for their PSA entry “NOT FOR SALE” submitted under the Human Rights category. Santos, said they decided to raise awareness on human trafficking which is a very timely issue in our country.

For this year’s competition, the Rotary PSA Festival had seven video categories which are: Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution; Maternal and Child Health; Environment; Disease Prevention and Treatment; Economic and Community Development; Basic Education and Literacy; and Water and Sanitation.
