T.I.P.ian board topnotcher inspires Architecture students
Ar. Gerald Bermido, graduate of the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Quezon City, recently joined the roster of T.I.P.ian topnotchers after placing 9th in the January 2017 Architect Licensure Examination.
According to Ar. Bermido, it has always been his dream to be a topnotcher. His success in the exam was the result of studying hard and year-long preparations. Bermido also stated how grateful he is for T.I.P.’s support during his review, most especially for the support of his dean and department faculty.
The young architect wishes to inspire others, especially T.I.P.’s Architecture students, advising them to focus on their goals and take their studies seriously. “I believe that the habits and attitude you have now will greatly affect what you become, so choose the right path and be responsible for your own actions,” Bermido advised. He also encourages students to learn how to “study beyond the halls of the school” believing that actual experience will guide them in decision-making and paving their way towards the careers they will choose. “Passing the board exam is just a means to an end. Learning doesn’t stop there,” he added.
Bermido is now managing his own architecture and design firm and is focusing on nurturing and making his company grow. “We are preparing for globalization, in the hopes of engaging internationally someday. We want to be able to showcase how Filipino architects work and deliver,” he said. Bermido also plans to take on graduate studies abroad in the near future.
