T.I.P. Choral Society shines in international choral fest

Competing in the recently concluded Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival 2017 held on July 20 to 23, 2017 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Theater, the Technological Institute of the Philippines Choral Society (T.I.P. CS) was awarded 2nd Prize winner in the Folk Song Category and 3rd Prize winner in the Chamber Choir Category.

The Folk Song category held on July 21, 2017 had 6 competing choirs including the University of Baguio Voices Chorale, Medan Community Male Choir, Ken Steven, Conductor, Koro Ilustrado, Choir of the University of Silesia “Harmonia,” T.I.P. CS, and Brawijaya University Student Choir.

T.I.P. CS was the only Filipino choir who made it to the Top 3. Emerging as winners together with the T.I.P. CS were the Choir of the University of Silesia “Harmonia” from Poland (3rd Prize) and the Brawijaya University Student Choir from Indonesia (1st Prize). T.I.P. CS, who was awarded the 2nd Prize, sang Kalejs Kala Debesis (Latvian), Luk Luk Lumbu (Indonesian), and Paruparong Bukid (Filipino).

In the Chamber Choir Category held on July 22, 2017, there were 7 choirs that competed with T.I.P. CS who took the 3rd Prize, namely UST The Accountancy Chamber Singers, Choir of the University of Silesia “Harmonia,” Brawijaya University Student Choir, Philippine Vocal Ensemble, University of the Philippines Los Baños Choral Ensemble, University of Baguio Voices Chorale.

The T.I.P. choir’s song list consisted of The Lady Oriana by John Wilbye, Verlorene Jugend by Johannes Brahms, Daluyong by Ily Matthew Maninano, and Alleluja by Josef Karai. Joining T.I.P. CS in the list of awardees for the said category were Brawijaya University Student Choir from Indonesia (2nd Prize) and University of the Philippines Los Baños Choral Ensemble (1st Prize).

The T.I.P. CS is composed of 32 competing members and is currently managed by their conductor, Cyro Bon Cloui Moral.
