T.I.P. Choral Society takes 1st Runner-up award at Timpalak-Awit Makabayan
The Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) Choral Society was awarded 1st Runner-up in the Fiesta Republica 2017’s Timpalak Awit Makabayan competition held at the Malolos Sports Convention Center on January 22, 2017.
The Timpalak Awit Makabayan is a choral competition held during Fiesta Republica, Malolos, Bulacan’s week-long fiesta celebration. The competition aims to revive the nationalist songs of the century featuring Filipino music composed during the 1896 Revolution up to the 1986 People Power Revolution sung in their original genre and dialect.
The T.I.P. Choral Society competed against 13 other choral groups from all around Luzon including Nueva Ecija University Chorale, Adamson University Chorale, Himig Consolacion, Centro Escolar University Chorale, Holy Angel University Chorale, CARMELO, Ramon Magsaysay High School Chorale, and Emilio Aguinaldo College Choir.
All participating choral groups sang the contest piece, “Viva Republica,” composed by Nick Pacis and internationally-renowned composer and arranger, Robert Delgado.
Taking 1st Runner-up was T.I.P. Choral Society followed by 2nd Runner-up, Centro Escolar University Chorale. Holy Angel University Chorale was named Timpalak Awit Makabayan Champion this year.
